Ertibet tablet contains betahistidine. It is an anti-vertigo drug and Ménière’s disease. It is chemically called as 2-[2-(methylamino)ethyl]pyridine.

Betahistidine is a antagonist for histamin H3 receptor. It is used to dilate the blood vessels present in the inner ear and cause relieve in pressure from smooth muscle. It also causes increase in levels of neurotransmitter which are relieved from nerve endings.
It is absorbed from gastro-intestinal tract. The concentration maximum is less with having food.
Less than 5% of the drug is bound to plasma protein. After administration the concentration of the drug in the plasma is low
The drug is excreted in urine and even fecal excretion.
- Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug
- Patients with history of gastric ulcer
- Cautiously used in asthmatic patient
- In pregnant and lactating mothers
